Government launches Heat and Energy Saving Consultation

The Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) and the Department for Communities and Local Government (CLG) have jointly published a strategy which could lead to many homes in England and Wales getting a green makeover and reducing their CO2 emissions.

The Heat and Energy Saving Strategy Consultation outlines a number of measures that would help more homeowners to insulate their homes and save money on their heating bills. The strategy aims to provide a quarter of all homes with a full energy makeover by 2020.

The Existing Homes Alliance will be submitting a joint response to the consultation, which ends on 8 May 2009, and we look forward to sharing our response with supporters of the Alliance.

DECC is also currently consulting on proposed amendments to the Carbon Emissions Reductions Target (CERT) and on the Community Energy Saving Programme (CESP)
